THE SMITHS photographs from the TV

On Saturday night I stumbled upon a Smiths concert in for the German rock programme ROCKPLAST.
The Smiths were in their austere first pomp, just after the first album. They played ‘Headmaster’s Ritual’ (called ‘Crack on the Head’ on the German subtitle) but no ‘How Soon Is Now’.
They didn’t have enough songs for their encores so repeated 3 songs. I was so excited I started taking photos with my phone, hence these images above.
The concert was excellent; if only I’d seen it at the time; I would have SWOONED in 1983.

No, we cannot cling to those dreams

Does the body rule the mind
Or does the mind rule the body ?
    I dunno…

  2. I did see them in 1983 at Rock City in Nottingham, and it was great. Morrissey was in a really bad mood, the combination of aggressive barbs at the audience, sweeping vocals and gladioli down his pants was guaranteed to make a 17 year old seriously fantasise!
