Mr.Freedom book cover: 1

I’ve been working on a book cover for the great publisher Adelta see:
http://www.adelita.co.uk/index.php
I got involved after buying the fantastic Bowie and Barny Bubbles books from the publisher Jen, one sunny day, on the way to a pub.
The publisher is right on my wavelength, so when there was talk of doing a cover for a new book on the fashion adventurer Tommy Roberts I jumped at the chance.
I’m going to devote posts to how the ideas developed into something that everybody is proud of.
It’ll show how a major piece of work goes through lots of permutations before the finished version.

The nice problem with the cover is the wealth of cool material from across Tommy’s career; how to show what he did without making it look like a jumble sale?

The first idea involved Tommy’s work, the thoughts of 1973, Glitter band Albums, Nipples, Japanese design, Nova magazine, the film Yellow Submarine and Monty Python.
