Dina no shine

This is a portrait of a friend, sitting at my kitchen table with a glass of white wine lit by candlelight.

What I’m trying to do with this painting is:

1. Make you feel like you are really there. The levels of foreground (glass) mid (candle) and background. Is this glass of wine yours?

2. Paint the different texture of glass (with gloss varnish), brass, candle (with real wax in the paint) tablecloth and lady.

3. Create a relaxing image that still has an edge.

This painting has been tough to photograph. The different varnishes and the way it was painted to look good in low light made it problematic to capture.

A companion piece to GG.
