Life Drawing 8: ‘A’ on canvas & sugar paper

My mother gave me some old canvases and frames. These were painted in the coldest of blues in preparation.  A is one of my favourite models, a mixture of strength and grace, a dancer.

Here’s the long pose, cropped dramatically. An hours worth of brush-marks. The background is now light grey. The hand has a pleasing realism. This will be worked on and exhibited. Made with acrylics.

A smaller canvas, both sides used. The figure was 20 minutes, the closer figures 15.

A twice on small canvas

The other side. As you can see, the tutor had just made a joke as I was drawing the models expression.

A on back of canvas

Two quick drawings on sugar paper. Conté pastel with a little acrylic.

That is a really peaceful shade of blue in her reclining pose. Perfect fit.
