Life drawing 11, 18 & 25 March 2018. ‘The Rehearsals’.

Finishing a painting. Even after around 6 hours this large canvas is still not quite there.

The Rehearsals
11, 18 & 25 March 2018, three Friday nights at The Mary Ward Centre, London.
Acrylic on canvas. 84x110cm.

The Rehearsals

The making of the artwork.
Influences: Velasquez has a habit of having paintings and or mirrors within paintings.
See ‘Christ in the House of Martha and Mary’ at the National Gallery. The colour palette is earthy, quite Giorgio Morandi and the composition has a little bit of Winifred Knights in its planned perspective.

A group of photos taken during three weeks. The 9 tiny sketches were made in the pub before the first session.
