Nearly fainting. Acrylics and pencils on paper. This has been worked on a fair bit. The background was originally bright red. The material and most of the background was added after the original session. The title refers to the model looking like she might fall into unconsciousness.

5x ‘M’. These were all 15 minute poses. A variety of media was used including oil pastels, oil sticks, acrylics and pencils. A lot of ‘see what happens’. Freestyle.

I really like “nearly fainting”. Reworking the background really makes this an interesting composition. The addition of angled rectangles and the flowing horizontals in the lower part of the compositions work well to offset the figure and to move the eye around her. And I like the underpainting of red showing through-adds warmth. The foreshortening of the figure is very well done and convincing.
Jeff, I realy like your reading of my work, many thanks.
The red did work well, I got the idea from Matisse. His ‘The Red Studio’ is a real inspiration. https://www.moma.org/collection/works/78389. The background and material come from trying to make the painting better away from the session with the model, which can be tricky.
