Life drawing: Look left.

Look left. Acrylics and compressed charcoal on paper. 1 hour.
Really pleased with this. The composition and distortions work. The colour palette is simple and feels real. This will be exhibited at some time and will be worked on.
The model is an enigmatic dancer. His sister has been painted by me and is the the exhibition at this moment. That is me in the background in the studio mirror.
Seven studies. Acrylic and compressed charcoal on paper. 2 hours.
The top images are the most pleasing. Lots of paint laid on with a big brush in such a small space.

  1. Utterly fascinating as a series. Your subject is an intriguing person. Your masterful approach and idea makes me confident it will succeed. And hopefully get the attention it deserves.

Thank you so much Carol, you have given the attention it deserves.
To be honest, I find it hard to know what to do with these works; people are not so big on mounting large paper nudes on their walls. I should do more portraits I suppose, ‘people with clothes on’ as my kids would say.

  2. Do preserve them carefully, will you? Someday soon the right venue will appear! I know I am a little woo-woo, but becoming so has made me a better artist. There really is a public for what you are doing and you deserve their attention. Just be patient, and keep on doing what interests you. (Honor your muse!) Forgive me if I sound awfully sentimental. It’s taken me about 60 years to grow up enough to pursue my inspirations and honor them. (I would like to save you a few decades of wasted time.)
